Pilates Essentials for Physiotherapists: Level 1 Injury Rehabilitation, consisting of both online modules and in person workshop provides health & fitness professionals with an easy to apply approach to the use of Pilates within injury rehabilitation. With a focus on the initial phases of musculoskeletal injury management and a return to movement, this workshop will guide you through the clinical reasoning, exercise selection, program design and implementation of a comprehensive Pilates based rehabilitation program for a range of common presentations.

By exploring the origins of Contrology and the current evidence base for exercise therapy, you will examine the role Pilates plays within today’s current model of healthcare. You will be guided through online modules discussing the latest evidence base for injury prevention and management, motor learning and Pilates floor and reformer exercises. Pilates exercise technique and adaptations for different clinical populations and performance goals, clinical indications and their coaching is also discussed.

You will also complete an in person, practical workshop that covers the coaching and use of a range Pilates exercises suitable during injury rehabilitation as well as exploring the programming of Pilates exercises for various clinical presentations. Lastly, a follow-up online Q&A session allows attendees to further discuss aspects of the workshop material with course presenter John Contreras.

Pilates Essentials for Physiotherapists: Level 1 Injury Rehabilitation has been designed for health and fitness professionals looking to up skill in the use of Pilates, as well as Pilates experienced health and fitness professionals looking for a new approach to their coaching.

John is an APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapists who graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2001. He completed a Master of Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning) in 2011 from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Sports Physiotherapy from Latrobe University in 2016.
