Rethink Pilates.

Pilates Essentials For Physiotherapists Level 2: Athletic Performance, consisting of online modules + an in person practical workshop, is a comprehensive workshop that equips Physiotherapists, health professionals and Pilates Instructors with the knowledge and skill to seamlessly progress their patient’s Pilates programs by integrating strength training and athletic development principles.

During this workshop, you will gain invaluable insights into the role Pilates training can play in developing your patient or client’s athletic development and performance within the Pilates studio. Delivered by John Contreras (APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Pilates Educator) you will learn how to design and coach an athletic performance focussed Pilates training program that will facilitate your patient’s athleticism, develop their sports specific conditioning, improve their movement skill and progress their strength and power.

With an emphasis on using Pilates to promote Athletic Performance, this workshop will guide you through several online modules discussing the use of Pilates for strength and power training, neuromuscular and agility training. In addition, common lower and upper limb sporting injury presentations, relevant rehabilitation and return to sport requirements are examined within the context of Pilates management. This workshop includes modifications to common Pilates exercises as well as the novel use of Pilates equipment.

You will also complete an in person, practical workshop that covers the coaching and adaptation of a range Pilates exercises aimed at facilitating return to sport and athletic development as well as exploring the programming of Pilates exercises for various athletic clinical presentations.

Pilates Essentials For Physiotherapists Level 2: Athletic Performance is suitable for health professionals and Pilates Instructors currently teaching Pilates to a population looking to improve their strength, fitness and athleticism and looking to expand their athletic Pilates repertoire. All health and fitness professionals, students and new graduates with some prior Pilates experience are welcome.
