Strength Training & Athleticism with Pilates is a face to face, two hour workshop that provides health professionals and Pilates instructors with a clear and concise framework to integrate strength training and athletic development principles into the Pilates studio. With an emphasis on the role of Pilates in athletic development, this workshop explores the how Pilates exercises can be appropriately prescribed and coached to develop muscle strength, hypertrophy and power.

Pilates is commonly promoted as facilitating athletic performance. Join us on this Pilates reformer workshop as we discuss how we can correctly guide our patients and clients through a well planned, evidence informed strength training program.

Using a series of athletic case studies, Strength Training & Athleticism with Pilates will provide health professionals and Pilates Instructors with the tools establish short and long term Pilates programs that develop athleticism.

Strength Training & Athleticism with Pilates is suitable for clinicians currently teaching Pilates to an athletic population or those aiming to expand their athletic Pilates repertoire. All health professionals, students and new graduates with some prior Pilates experience are welcome. Those with no prior Pilates experience may attend, however be aware the practical content assumes attendees have some Pilates knowledge.

John is an APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapists who graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2001. He completed a Master of Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning) in 2011 from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Sports Physiotherapy from Latrobe University in 2016.
